The governorship candidate of the Labour
Party in Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, has dismissed a rumour that he
has withdrawn from the Saturday’s election.
Akala, also a former Oyo governor, warned those peddling the rumour to desist from such act.
The former governor spoke through the
Director of Public Affairs of his campaign team, Mr. Oludare Ogunlana,
at a press conference in Ibadan on Tuesday.
Alao-Akala berated Governor Abiola
Ajimobi for saying that inadequate and delayed allocation from the
Federal Government was responsible for his failure to carry out some
capital projects.
Ogunlana said, “Let me start by saying
that our candidate, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, is very much in the race;
he has not stepped down for anybody. We are very optimistic of victory
in the Saturday’s election.
“It was irresponsible of the All
Progressives Congress to blame paucity of funds for its
under-performance at a time the government is winding up. No amount of
lies will save Governor Abiola Ajimobi from defeat.
“We urge the people of the state to be
firm in their bid to oust the incumbent administration which has
inflicted pains and elevated their problems rather than alleviate it.”
