Dreadful: Afghanistan woman forced to marry the man who raped her

An Afghanistan woman who was raped by her cousin's husband has been forced to marry the man after she was jailed for the rape.

An Afghanistan woman who was sentenced to jail after she was raped on charges of forced adultery, has agreed to marry her rapist so that her daughter, who was conceived while she was raped, can have a normal family.
To make matters worse, the man who raped her was her cousin's husband, Asadullah, and she bore the brunt of the rape as she was sentenced to two years in prison which was increased to 12 years after she appealed the sentence.

The woman identified as Gulnaz of kabul, was only 16-years-old when she was raped by and she became pregnant. She was arrested and sentenced to 2 years in prison for 'adultery by force,' but after an appeal, her sentence was increased to 12 years.
She was no longer accepted into normal society because she 'had sex with a married man.'
Asadullah was also jailed for the rape, but his sentence was subsequently reduced after he agreed to marry the teenager.
Asadullah, who did not show any remorse over his crime, insisted that by agreeing to marry her, he actually 'saved' Gulnaz from being abandoned by her family and by society. Gulnaz gave birth to her daughter in the Badam Bagh women’s jail before then President Hamid Karzai pardoned her.
She later agreed to marry Asadullah so that her daughter has a normal family life and she is not shamed by her 'mother’s action.'
