Bomb blast hits army base in Plateau

Casualty details are still sketchy, but witnesses and security sources have confirmed the incident., and some reports say it is fatal.
A military facility in Plateau State reportedly witnessed a bomb blast at about 9:45 this morning, April 25.
It was gathered that the bomb exploded at the Nigerian Army’s 3rd Armoured Division barracks at Bassa Local Government Area of the state.
Casualty details are still sketchy, but witnesses and security sources have confirmed the incident. Some reports say several persons died in the attack.

Woman bags 266-yr jail term for theft

Oluremi Olayinka, an employee of Sweet Sensation, was on Wednesday convicted and sentenced to 266 years imprisonment by Justice A.A Akinyemi of Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta, for stealing N8million belonging to her employer.
The court found the convict guilty on all the 34-count charges. She was sentenced to seven years on each of 30 counts and 14 years on the remaining four charges. The sentences are to run concurrently. This means that the sentences will be run simultaneously.
Her action is contrary to sections 390(6)(7)(8), 467 and 468 respectively of the Criminal Code Law Cap 29, Laws of Ogun State.
Additionally, Justice Akinyemi ordered her to return the money she stole in restitution to her victim.

Hasheem Suleiman, 33, promised to walk from anywhere he was to Abuja if Buhari was declared President. When a Buhari victory was certain, Hasheem Suleiman set out on a journey of over 700km.
He first drew media attention when he was spotted in Minna and was honoured as a guest of the ruler of the Nupe Land, Etsu-Nupe Yahaya Abubakar.
On Monday, Hasheem arrived Abuja to a hero's welcome as he walked all the way to the campaign office of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, where he was well recieved on Monday evening.

Hundreds of Nigerian protesters on Monday stormed the offices of South African companies in Abuja and Benin City, Edo State, to protest the ongoing xenophobic attacks on foreigners, especially Nigerians, in South Africa.
In Abuja, the protesters, led by media personality and President of the Berekete Family, Ahmad Isah, marched to the regional headquarters of MTN Nigeria Communications Limited in Maitama, as well as Shoprite and Multichoice, owners of DSTV.
At MTN, the protesters, who carried placards with various inscriptions condemning the attacks on Nigerians and their businesses in South Africa, were joined by Nigerians in the area where the office is located.

Kenya's Foreign Affairs cabinet said the evacuation has become necessary because of the fear that the attacks may spread across the country.

Yesterday, we heard about a strange illness in a community in Ondo state that has killed at least people who woke up blind, with headache, rashes on their bodies and died 24 hours later.

According to new reports, it's not a medical condition. The state commissioner for Information and Strategy said the illness and sudden death is connected to an exhumed corpse in the community. He said people who've died so far were those who had contact with the people who exhumed the corpse.

Revealed: Plot to abduct Jega during presidential poll


Fresh facts have emerged on the March 31 attempt by a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, to scuttle the announcement of the March 28 presidential election results.
The main part of Orubebe’s action, according to Reuterson Thursday, was a plot to use hired thugs     to kidnap the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, and consequently stall the electoral process.
The news agency quoted unnamed pro-democracy advocates and a Nigeria-based diplomat as saying that one of Jega’s aides unearthed the plot.

Good NewsFamily announce rescue of kidnapped kids

All well that ends well. That is the good news emanating from the home of the Orekoyas whose three kids were kidnapped by their new maid as the children have been found at last.


There is now joy in the home of the Orekoyas whose three kids, Aderomola, Adedamola and Demola, were abducted by their new housemaid on April 7, 2015, as the kids have been found hale and hearty.
The maid who was employed from an online classified portal only two days earlier, had kidnapped the three boys who were aged 11 months, four years and six years respectively, and had thrown the family into great turmoil.
After a lot of public outcry, the abductors made a demand of a ransom of N15 million before the kids would be released.
But late yesterday, April 14, the kids' mother, Adebisi Busayo Adekunle Orekoya, posted on her Facebook page that the kids had been found.
Though she did not give any detail if the family had paid the ransom demanded or how the rescue was made possible, she thanked Nigerians for their support both morally and financially.

A 103-year-old woman, Marie Hunt of Spring Green, Wisconsin, has recently graduated with her high school diploma.
The woman received an honorary degree from River Valley High School 87 years after she would’ve have normally received the educational achievement. Hunt had completed middle school (up to eight grade) but had been forced to drop out of school and help raise her eight younger siblings instead.
While she has led a happy life, she says she has always regretted never completing her high school education so Hunt’s nurse worked with the River Valley School to help make her dream become a reality.

Shocker: Man kills neighbour to inherit wife


A 40-year-old Goromonzi, Zimbabwe man, Temba Lungu, is currently facing murder charges in a High Court in the district for the 2007 killing of his neighbour, Charles Kureti, and promptly inheriting the deceased's wife.
Lungu was arrested last year after having been on the run since he allegedly committed the offence.
He is suspected to be part of a three man gang that allegedly suffocated and threw Kureti into the flooded Pote River, leaving him to die with his hands tied together at the back with a piece of wire.

According to the Vanguard Newspaper, the family were taking the remains of the deceased, Efe Onosakponwha, who was a victim of a robbery attack at Eku by over 20 gunmen, to their hometown for burial when the gunmen attacked and robbed them.
