UPDATE | 90 Dead, over 1,000 wounded in Turkey Coup saga

Turkish President Erdogan has confirmed that a faction in his country's military attempted a coup on Friday. The situation got bloody at a point through the night. The number of dead from the coup attempt has risen to 90, the state-run news agency Anadolu reported on Saturday.



From the official source, about 1,154 people were also wounded.

Meanwhile, according to AFP, 200 unarmed soldiers at the Turkish military headquarters have surrendered, said a government official, adding that special troops were currently securing the complex.

Troops loyal to the president have taken over majors streets and suspected hot spots in the country.
