WHY I AM CORRUPT (Quite Revealing)

Nigerians are corrupt, they say. I am a Nigerian and I know why I am corrupt...
I am corrupt because I am hungry. Because I need the food, the whole food and nothing but the food. Because I have to “hustle” if I want to see the food. Because without food I amuse less, to myself and to society. A hungry man has no principles; morality is a luxury affordable to the well-fed.

Avoiding Investments That Are Too Good To Be True

Author of Practical Steps to Financial Independence and personal finance coach, Usiere Uko, writes on pyramid and Ponzi schemes, which are coming back in Nigeria.

They come and go, lie low for a season and then come back again; investment schemes that promise rates of return way above money market rates. While conventional rates are per annum, they promise returns at rates per month, per quarter etc. You get to double your money in a year or less. You make more money when you bring in more people. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

How Agriculture Can Save Nigeria From Hardship

Sometimes i get worried when I see the Presidency focusing on ICT/Tech as if we are going to compete with America, China or India. Get it straight, those countries got agriculture right and they were able to feed themselves before Tech became the next big thing for them.

Even if all our youths develop Apps and Programs, without affordable food nothing changes. I think the focus should be Agriculture and Agriculture, for government. Tech is global and we will find our way. After all, Mark Zuckerberg was brought to Nigeria by Tech guys, not government.

The graph of life is never straight and steep as many human beings would prefer it to be. There are the straight parts, the curves and then the twists. Economies also behave in similar fashion. We call the growth period economic prosperity. When it contracts, we say there is recession.

So, recession is not only a regular occurrence in economies; it is also a universal phenomenon. It occurs in different places at different times. This means that both developed and developing countries often take their turns on depression or recession.
